![]() It's not clear from the post, but make sure that each user mounts /home (singular) and not /homes (plural). So File station -> right click a folder -> "Settings" -> "Permissions" -> set correct permissions for users for that particular folder. You need to set all folders permissions manually via File station. ![]() This works the same for all other users, except for the fact they cannot get into the "Homes" folder, but only their own subfolder. If you click "Homes" you will go to the volume which houses all of the users files. If you are logged in as an admin and go to filestation, you will see both "Home" and "Homes" if you click "Home" you will go to the admin's home folder. The way they get to their home folder is via the "symlink" "home" which is shown when they login. But that they are also unable to go to that folder via a direct "link". This makes sure that all folders for users are hidden when they browse via (for instance) SMB. Make sure that in the "Users" window -> "Advanced" -> Enable/check "Users homefolder" And with "Applications" make sure all applications you would like the user to be able to use are checked. Then in config under "Users" -> Select user -> "Edit" -> "Permissions" make sure none are checked. Then in the same window under "Permissions" make sure none of them are checked. What works for me (but as you said, might not work for you) is make sure that in config under "Shares" -> "Edit" -> "General" -> check both "Hide folder in networkshares" and "Hide folders and subfolders for users without rights" (text may differ, translated to English). Is there a simple way to get a user to have access to only their /homes/user account and nothing else? I don't want to re-do everything because we have multiple Moments profiles that have all been indexed and set up. Lots of people have posted many different things that seems to work for that one person but not other people, and the only solution that works across other people is backing up all of the /homes/user data elsewhere, disabling the user home service, then re-enabling it-which I can't quite understand what that would do, but having set up everything on the NAS a very long time ago, I don't know how to remedy this. I read through some forum posts on Synology and it appears this is a complication with using /homes and the default user group. It gets to a point where either no one can access /homes or all users can access /homes and all folders inside of it. ![]() But no changes I make get to a point where a user can see only their data and nothing else. I've tried to understand the permissions structure of the user default group, and I've even tried removing permissions through it and setting up a new user group for each user. I have each user's folder doing versioning through Synology drive management console.īut the issue is each user can see each other user's data. Each user account has their own Drives and moments folder. ![]() I have multiple user accounts-one "admin" account, and then three "user" accounts. So I am using the user homes service on my DS1019+. This may have been an error, but I didn't really understand why. I originally set up my NAS with each user under the default "user" group. ![]()
